New "Mondriaan" painting
November 2011

During a diner with some friends from Wervik , Dutchman Rob
was handed a nice surprise. Lieven Desmet (1975), had created
a painting in de style of the Dutch artist Mondriaan.

Lieven works as an artist himself, under the name Armin.
“Armin is an old-German name”, he explains. “It can mean
warrior or army hero and origins from the word ‘ermen’,
which means huge, totally or universal.”

Lieven feels a connection with the other famous Dutch artist,
Van Gogh and his style. “I have read all of his letters and have
seen a lot of his paintings in real life. Because Van Gogh always
fought for recognition, Armin seemed like an appropriate
pseudonym” says the artist.

Rob was very impressed and moved by the gesture and the
painting.
